The Trailhead

A trailhead is a hiking term used to describe where a trail begins. That’s where I feel I’m at. Just beginning this journey into the unknown, to see what I see along the way, see where the trail loops, come across forks in the path and make choices. There may be beautiful sights along the way, or muddy bogs to wade through. One could say that all of life is like one big hike, but I’d say it was worth it, as I’m a hiker in the making and love the adventure and challenge of it all.

So, what about this new trailhead? Well I recently qualified as a holistic nutritionist. However this has placed me in a bit of a quandary, as I feel like anything but. You see, I’m just sort of starting my own journey towards health. I don’t have a nice story to tell you from the other side, of how I came through this momentous challenge and now sit well and happy and successful on the other side; I’m going through it right now as we speak. And, I wanted you to journey with me.

I don’t know what to expect, what successes and failures will be encountered along the way. But, it really doesn’t matter; it’s all about the journey. I read this great quote by Thomas A.Edison: “I have not failed, I have found 10,000 ways that won’t work”, and this just before he successfully invented the light bulb. Another quote that I came across on the internet (author unknown) defining the acronym “F.A.I.L. = First Attempt In Learning”. I guess that means there really is no such thing as failure; only experiences and learnings.

So, here we are; let’s begin!
